Need a scanner that speaks 'Sesame'

We are looking to purchase a professional scanner to scan invoices and file them digitally on our server. Hopefully, we can have Sesame dictate where the scanfile will be saved and what it will be named. Then record the file info in a record for later retrieval.

If anyone has a recommendation, I'd be happy to hear it.

Sincerely,
Steve

Fujitsu 6130 or 6140 are the great scanners. They are small but really work horse. I have been using Fujitsu scanner with Sesame for the last two years. Also using twainsave software to use command line scanning commands that place documents in subform.  Whatever I receive through email or fax in pdf file get directly goes into document subform. xResultSetReparent () command comes very handy to deal with the documents in subform.

Bharat,

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I was looking at the 6130 today.

I appreciate your input and also the tip on XResultSetReparent().

Sincerely,

Steve

Inside Sesame,  Nov 2006 has an article "Link Scanned Documents to Your Database Record" will give you headstart towards your project but if you want to Insert document in the subform on the fly while working on the other forms will need further coding. I will be glad to share with you as to how I handled it and what code I am using.  My system as well as scanner are working excellent. Just to give an Idea, I received by snail mail, medical records for two patients, one was 235 pages and other was 55 pages. In 15 minutes total I was done with both of them. And I assure you there is no exaggerations in this.  If I would have received these documents by fax (that I get pdf file in my emai), or received pdf attached file, I would have been able to insert that in subform instantly. What basically you insert is the file location and unique name and description. Am I making sense?

Yes, I understand.

I'll check out the Inside Sesame report that you mentioned, and the software drivers, then I'll report back with how I did.

Thanks for the help!

Steve

Bharat,

Thanks again for your help. The Fujitsu 6130 and code from Jon McLaughlin's Inside Sesame article made the perfect fix for our scanning needs.

I owe you one!

Sincerely,

Steve
