datbase root directories-translation problem

Greetings,

I was looking to translate a new database.

Under the window
Select a Q&A Database file to translate
Database root directories

I was able to in the past select a location
lets say d:\data

It will only allow me to select c:\sesame
When go to list box It will not show any other hard drive locations on my pc???

I tried to re-boot? Still getting the same thing?

I was however able to do this when I first loaded the product?

Any comments as to why this is doing this?

Regards,

Dave Costanzo

Dave, can't give full explanation as I must leave in a minute, and don't have manuals with me.  But I did a quick search via FIND in the PDF file of the User Guide.  See page 428 of the User Manual, and see if that info about rootdirs.ini and DRIVES is what you need.

Hope that's what you need!

Thanks for the tip on ref pp 428

Roots.ini file

I added  [DRIVES]

It still does not access D:\  drive

Should I enter D:\  or  [D:\]  ?

I saved my databases to a folder to my desktop

then re-installed program.

Re-checked to see I could access other drives and it does.

Not sure what happen here, but it works now.

I am thinking I may have deleted something I was not suppose to?

Dave,

The file is called rootdirs.ini . If you put [DRIVES] in it, you should be able to browse your entire hard drive, however the file must be in the right place.

Right-click on the shortcut you use to start Sesame.
Look at the setting for Start In.
That's where rootdirs.ini needs to be.

Note: This is not the same directory where the executable itself lives. If you get Inside Sesame, read Mark's article on the Current Working Directory.
