UNTIL I LEARN MORE ABOUT SESAME

I need to print a report in QA5 to a remote laser printer. I'm set up in a small peer to peer network with three computers. Computer 1 has a USB printer and thus can't print from a dos program. Computer 2 has a laser printer that I can print to if I'm in a windows program. How do I set up Q&A5 to print to the laser printer on Computer 2? Bear with me. I ain't sophisticated so a step by step procedure would be appreciated. Computer 1 runs XP. Computer 2 & 3 run Win 98. I'm working, struggling at this stage with Sesame so until I feel proficient with it I still need to print from Q&A.

Here is a command line batch file that you can put in your startup file.
capture l=1 q=*********-q nb nff
***=the network name of the printer.  I usually name the file
QAPRINT.bat

Thank you so much. I'll be giving that an immediate try.

You are encountering one of the main reasons why most of us are wanting to migrate to Sesame.

I have my doubts that the solutions so far have resolved your problem, because many of the newer type printers use a GDI printing format which only works from Windows applications and therefore you cannot print from Q&A (Dos) - this is also generally the case with most USB printers.

If the printer uses PCL, then generally you should be OK if you can map the printer from an LPT port (info on this can be found the Q&A user forum mentioned above)

Another option would be to print you report to a text file and then physically print from it out of windows

Thank you, PaulH. I think you may be right on. So far none of the suggestions has worked. I keep getting "system error 67" messages or just no response at all. Thanks again.
