What determines whether a form/subform is locked or not if you are the sole user of an application?

I'm in preview mode, I am the sole user of the .dsr file and I am scrolling through the records.  Whilst in Search/Update mode, some of the records appear as "Locked", while others are "Update".

Any clues?

Thanx =)

Do any of your subforms appear more than once? For example, appearing on different tabs? If any record is presented in more than a single instance, one of the instances must be locked. Whoever gets to a record first locks out any further access until they move off that record.
