FormResultSetCurrentPosition error checking

I was wondering if there is any means of performing error checking on this function? Ie what if there is no form open? I have been trying to use a subform to call this on the parent form to get a value from it but the program seems to be crashing every time. Is there any way to trap errors or determine if the form is open?
