Quote: What server software is best to use with Sesame or in general. (Windows, Red Hat Linux, free BSD or ??)
Sesame likes Linux, though it doesn't have to be Red Hat. Mandrake, Suse, others... so long as it is for Intel. Sesame runs significantly faster on Linux than on any flavor of Windows, even though it is exactly the same code. The memory manager on Linux is several times more efficient than Microsoft's.
Be aware though, that the issues of changing from the Window's world to the Unix world may be more than most Window's users will want to take on. For example to still use drive sharing on a Linux server you will need to install, setup, and configure "samba".
Sesame does not run on BSD (free or otherwise).
Quote: What forms of daily maintenance besides backups would you suggest needs to be performed with Sesame and the server software?
Sesame server will want its log file deleted periodically.
