New Subform Problem
Mar 13th, 2004 at 7:30pm
Print Post Print Post
Re hashing our invoice form again and decided to add the LE's of C,I,D to the subform that Tom Marcellus outlined in this months issue of Inside Sesame.
What I have noticed is that the static text beside these 3 new LE's (in subform) shows up on the main invoice form in application preview, but the other static text from subform does not.
The second thing I noticed is while previewing application, add data, the same 3 elements which are read only in the LineItem DB are not shaded out and  read only in the subform.

Is this something that is known of and taken care of in 1.0.2 ? or as this only happens with the static text just added to the form am I missing doing something?
thanks becky

I'm not entirely clear on what you're describing here, but I'll take some guesses.

1. Static Text elements never show up in a table view subform or in Table View.

2. In a table view subform, read only elements are not greyed out. You can type in them, but they don't retain your changes when you leave the cell. This is so we can still allow you to read long values, copy values, etc.

Does this information answer any of your questions?

Will try to make it a little clearer than mud  Grin
The static text added beside the LE's C,I and D in the Lineitems dB (subform) shows up on the bottom of the main form (Invoice) in application preview. They are not in the table view of the subform but below it on the main form.
A picture's worth what?  Cheesy

You will notice (Customer #), (invoice #) and (Invoice Date) on bottom. This is the static text in the Lineitems database.

We tried this, and it's not happening for us. There must be some factor that we are not recreating. Could we see the app, so we can dig around in it? Grin If so, send it to support@lantica.com marked to my attention.

That happened to me also, so i removed the static text.

The static text from the subform appeared behind some elements on the parent form. Also, some fields on the parent form changed to the color of the subform, randomly. They changed back if I scrolled the elements off the screen with the scroll bars.

Weird bugs that I assumed would be fixed with the next release.

I can probably recreate if you need me to.

Thanks,
steve in Texas

When you say Static Text, are they labels for the LEs of subform?

No Bharat, its just static text after the LE for description purpose only, see fig. 5 page 4 of Inside Sesame(March).
Was incorporating Tom's idea of C,I,D elements.

Have sent the db to Erika to sniff out the problem.

Becky,

The problem does not appear in the current version. It may have been fixed as a side effect of fixing something else. I'll keep checking, but it looks like your problem may be fixed by the new release.

Becky,
Yes, I got it.  I could reproduce the same as you mentioned. I am wondering why Erika could not reproduce it? The Static Text shows up on the main form. In my case, it showed up above the subform element.

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear. I do see the problem using the app Becky sent when running your version of Sesame. The problem does not appear in the current version awaiting release, so I believe that it is fixed.
