Losing records during export

Erika,

Using your instructions that I found here:
http://www.lantica.com/Forum2/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=archived;action=display...

on how to change a Relationally Linked subform to a Naturally Linked subform.

I found that any records that only had data in the parent form (just blanks on line 1 in subform) did not export.

I worked around this by creating one temporary line item for each of the blank subforms to ensure that all the main records has at least one subrecord.

Is this normal or is it a bug? (Though, I can't see why this would be normal.)

[Edit was to update the location of the link above.]

Sounds like a bug to me. The absence of any subrecords when there are subfields selected for export must be incorrectly triggering a failure condition. I'll check it out.

I'm curious how that method worked out for you otherwise. Did you get your records linked as you wanted them?

I forgot to mention in the last post, if I set only the main form fields to export, all records do export.

Yes. 8)  It seems to work great. And WOW, what a difference in the speed of doing a search when criteria is placed in one of the subfields! It's almost instant now.

Thanks for posting those instructions. I didn't figure it was possible to convert Relational Links to Natural Links.
