Transporting redesigns to another copy of the data

Can I copy the .DSR file (by itself) to transport redesign changes to a live copy of the database?

I would like to fix/change/update programming, format restrictions, and forms in my office, then somehow get these changes to my client's office where they continue to enter and play with live data.

Is this possible?  It is not possible to sit in the client's office and try to get work done that requires any degree of concentration.  <grin>

That's what DSR's are for. Take the DSR and DDT files. Work on them. Take them back to your client and Reconcile the DSR to the working DB. It updates all structure without altering data, except as required by the structural changes. See pages 130-132 of the User Guide for info on Reconciling.

Thanks!  That was what I was hoping!  I didn't see it explicitly say in the book about what I wanted to do, so thanks for confirming...   Grin

Can a reconcile be done from a command prompt or from an icon.

Say you want to reconcile a clients or remote pc and you just want to mail them a cd with the dsr files. can they just run a batch file to "auto-reconcile" their copy?

Thanks,

Not yet. However, these kinds of "developer" features are on our list for future versions.

Sounds good. It will be nice when we want to email an upgrade or new program to a user or client.

Thanks,
