Time field does not sort - we think

We have a field formatted for time and populated with @time

When we try to sort on this field, it gives us annoying results like:

9:00
11:00
8:30
17:30

In other words, it doesn't seem to want to sort numerically on the time field.  Is this a known bug?

Time fields sort fine for us. Are you sure that you have a Time field, as opposed to a text field with time values in it?
