Restrictions without requirements

Hello all,

I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to manage my field restrictions.  I am converting from Q&A and have been using it for years.  When I convert, and do a lookup, I have several field restrictions that are coming up.  Many of these were left blank.  So my question is, can I remove requirement for these fields to be filled so that these fields will not come up as a problem?

Thanks

In the screen to Redesign your form:

Tag all of the layout elements that you want to remove Restrictions from, by using Shift-Left-Click
In the Property Editor click on the "Other" tab.
Scroll down the Property Editor until you see Restriction.
Make sure the editor field is empty (Press F5 to see current content).
Left click on the large arrow to the right of the Restriction editor field.
All the tagged elements now have no restrictions.

Confirm this by looking in the Property Viewer.
Click on the "Other" tab, and then click on each element to see the value in the Restriction field

Thanks Rob.  Is there a way to just remove the requirement of the field though?

Hello javir73

My instructions did explain process for multiple elements, sorry about that.  I did not mean to imply that you had to Shift-Click on every field.  Just need to "tag" the element(s) that you want to change

The instructions can be followed for any single element, or for any group of elements.   Just click on the single element vs. doing a Shift-Click on all elements.

Does this help,  or did I misunderstand your question?

Bob, sorry.  I'm not sure I have explained myself properly.  I want to keep the restrictions, but remove the requirement of the field being filled.  So if the field is a salutation (Mr., Ms., Mrs.,etc.) then leaving the field blank is also an option without screwing up the performance of the DB.

Thanks
Jim

Just add "=" for "empty" to the list of restrictions.

So you have: =; Mr.; Ms.; Mrs.;etc.
