I have spend a few hours trying to get my head arround the printspec example in the PRINTSTRING report example I also looked at the Report option.
and Now I am very confussed.

IS THERE A EASY WAY TO PRINT A REPORT OR OUTPUT IN A LARGE READIBLE FORMAT
WHEN THEIR ARE MAIN AND SUBFORMS INVOLVED.
OR

In order to have subform data in a report, you need to:
1) Create a report in the CHILD (subform) db.
2) Create or edit a report in the PARENT (main) db.
3) While in the PARENT db report designer, use the Layout Element Adder and select "Subreport" in the Select Element Type drop down box.
4) Click on the Add Element To Report button.
5) A window will pop up where you can select the name of the report you created in the CHILD db.

That should get you started. I can't help you with PrintString, as I haven't used that yet myself.

The fifth argument to PrintString is a font name, and the sixth is font size. If you just want to make everything on the page bigger, use smaller values in the NewPage command.

Sorry about my earlier reply, it appears I misunderstood the question.

Carl,

I don't think you misunderstood the question. You answered part of it, I answered part of it, and part of it is left unanswered.

I see where everyone is going.
I am doing it through reports but
it is infact a long way round as I cannot print directly
from the page I am working on at current
TO USE REPORT YOU NEED TO BE IN RETRIEVE MODE

This begs the question of how to print strainght from the page (I hate to say it LIKE IN Q&A)

any tips to do this would be most welcome
ps Smiley for the input up to now

Warren

Warren,

There is a piece of code in a previous thread that demonstrates this with the Gems sample application.

The problem with the report Idea is that You Have to "save" the record and then retrieve it in order to Print and Report. You cannot Print a report From where you add the Data.
and Print string is powerful But Way to complicated for a Mear Mortal Like myself.

What I need Is a tool That Can Print A selected Items
FULL SCREEN

Something like the Quick Books Create Invoice System

PLEASE PLEASE  Grin

Hello Warren_S.A.....

Until that capability is available, you might want to see if HardCopy will work for you.  I submitted information about this utillity in response to another question some time ago.

See the entry I made at: http://www.lantica.com/Forum2/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=ot;action=display;num=1...

One thing you can do with HardCopy is Print an entire Windows object, not just an area of the screen.
