I burned a .dsr file I'd been creating on my laptop.  When I tried to open it on my regular pc, first I was warned that it was read only, then it failed to open at all.   Cry

I assume, because you used the term "burned", that you moved the files by burning a CD and then copying the files from the burnt CD. Under MS Windows, files that are copied from a CD retain their read-only status, even after being copied to a writable disk (like your hard drive). After copying both (and always remember to keep them together) the .dsr file and .ddt (or the .db and the .dat files) to your hard drive from the CD, use MS Explorer to set the permissions of both files to be writable.
