Default Sort Spec

Hi -

It is important to me that my database open in a specific sorted order.

I designed a sort spec and made it the default.  I tried it and it worked just fine and I thought "gee, that was nice and easy."

The problem I am having, however, is that any time I make a change using SDesigner and reconcile the database, the default spec "disappears."  Since this database is "new" and undergoing frequent modification, this is not accaptable.

How can I "fix" it?

Also, for the first time - today - even though I created and saved the Default spec, it is being ignored when I close the database and reopen it.  I am totally "baffled."

Hello Spencer,

It is a bug that I am about to write up shortly. now for the workaround.

In Sdesigner
Reconcile your DSR to your DB file.
Click File Open Application
Choose your DB file
Save it over your DSR file
Click Preview application
Open Search Update
Open the spec manager
Set the sort spec you want as the default
Close the Spec Manager
Exit Preview
Reconcile to your DB file

You will now have a default sort spec that will stay in place.

Ray -

Then I am not going crazy.  (Well some people might disagree with that but at least this particular incident does not provide proof!)  lol

I followed your instructions, then went to DSR, made a programming change, reconciled it to my database and then opened my database and walla, SUCCESS!

Thanks for helping solve this problem.
