Hi Flip,
If you have chosen a location in the Line Item subform, you can place a conditional statement to subtract number of item from that location. What kind of subform did you make? How far are you with your project? What is the design like?

Thank you R.M. for e-mailing your example. My problem was all in the if then else programming. All is good again.
