Ray, it happened again.
same file.

I have a girl entering data on Back_computer. One of the others tried to access the app (register) she was working on from Front_computer. The request was refused. She asked the girl with the app open (Back_computer) to retrieve the data. No Problem. The girl on Back_computer then went out of that App (register) to another app (lot owner), but when she tried to get back into the first app (register) it showed the little window and sliding bar, but then threw up a message that it couldn't open the app.
Now, none of the machines can open that app (register), and it shows as unlocked?
None of the machines were shut down during this proceedure, and the server is still fine, all other aps open.

Hello Bob,

What message did the girl at the front computer get when the request was refused?

Send me the DB and DAT for register as well as the log file(s_log0000.log) from the server computer.

Yes. If you are set up truly Client Server than more than one person can access the same application at the same time.

On the Server Computer what is the Start In directory and Target for the icon that starts Sesame Server?

On the Back_computer what is the Start In directory and Target for the icon that starts Sesame?

On the Front_computer what is the Start In directory and Target for the icon that starts Sesame?

Bob,

The files you sent me opened just fine on my computer in version 1.1.2. Did you send me the files from before you restored from a backup or after you restored the register files from a backup?

Also what computer and what directory did the log file you sent me come from? The reason I ask is because the latest entry is the 16th of March.

What dates are on those files? When I did the backup, I first moved the old files into a directory called corrupt files.
Maybe I moved an earlier version, but that really doesn't make sense.
I'll check and see if there are two logs. They came from C:\sesame\data

Server line
C:\sesame\program\sesame.exe
Start in C:\sesame

Client line
C:\sesame\data\sesame.exe -client front_computer
start in C:\sesame

The server lines should be

C:\sesame\program\sesame.exe -server Center
Start in C:\Sesame

Every Client Icon should be exactly the same as the following

C:\Sesame\Program\sesame.exe -client Center
Start in C:\Sesame

Note these are both assuming that the computer named Center is the Server computer.

Once you change the icons start Sesame Server
Does it say 0 out of 3?
If so go start up one client at a time until you have three clients connected
Do they all start up?
Does the server say 3 out of 3?
On the first client open a DB file(anyone will do)
On the second client open the same DB file
Does it open?
On the third client open the same DB file as the other two computers have open.
Does it open?

The dates on the files are the dates of when I downloaded them from the e-mail.

I'm sending them again, I tried to open them first, with no luck.
I then copied the backup files into the same folder, and they worked fine.

I think the problem I was having with not getting the clients to open together, was due to a mental block on my part.
The sesame 'server' is of course software. I was thinking, of the machine as the server (hardware). This confusion resulted in a plethora of errors on my part.
I had sesame running without a client instruction on the machine that contained the server software. This may have meant that I had two sessions of Sesame open on the network at the same time. Two running through the server, and one stand alone.
That is not good I figure.
You might consider looking for a way to lock this ability out if possible.
Hopefully, all are now corrected.
3 of 3 running together in the same file! Thanks!

Did that second set of files I sent open for you?

Bob,

You will want to make sure that every Sesame icon on the client computers starts up a client and that none of them start up Sesame Standalone. Take the time to double and triple check this so that you will hopefully never run into this same problem again.

The files opened after some time under the microscope. If you need them back give me an hour or two to finish cleaning them up and I'll get them back to you. The files appeared to have been opened by more than one copy of sesame at the same time.

In about an hour, she will have caught up to where she was at the time of the problem. No need for you to go further at this point.
Thanks for clearing that up.
