Could not find reference to my proiblem so will ask:
I have records of items in boxes.  I want to list the contents of one box.  I do a search, find the box and see the items sorted as I like.  I do a report and get all records.  I know I am doing something wrong, but don't know what ???

I am missing the problem...

1.  Are you getting all items from all boxes in the report vs. just the items from the one box?

2.  Does the report have a Saved Retrieve Spec?

Just the items from the one box.  The report does not  have a Saved Retrieve Spec.  I uses sort box at bottom of column and entered box # on retrieve screen. Got list of items just like I wanted, sorted correctly.  Asked for a report.  Report listed all boxes, not sorted as I wanted.

Reports run on the Current record set.

It does not sound like you first did a Retrieve for just the records for that box number.   And it also sounds like you are using the Sort by box number when you want to retrieve by box number and sort by some other value.  If you are only looking at one box, it does not make sense to sort by box, because there will only be one box in the current record set.  This would only make sense if you had more than one box number in the current record set.

Do this to restrict the records to the one box:

1.  Retrieve the records for the desired box number.  Check that the number of records in the record set is correct.
2.  Now sort the records by the Item number, or description, or whatever other Sort criteria you have.
3.  Run your report and you should be all set.

Sorry I am not clear.  That is exactly what I did! But results were wrong.  I will call it quits for today and worry about it tomorrow.

OK, I found I had an attached spec that was overriding everything else.  Now how do I delete and/or change spec?  Could find no instructions in manual.

Hello Foster,

You remove a spec the same way you add one.

Redesign your report in Sdesigner
Click Attach Specs
Choose the Appropriate Spec Type
Choose "Select a Different Spec" in the Attach a Spec drop down
Choose "[NONE] - Detach Current Spec"
Click Attach.
