Last Server/client question before I jump...

I have made it thru 18 years of school w/little problem, stayed married for nearly 15 years, raised a child to the age of 11 without her making the news and w/good grades but this server/client thing is making me feel like a total dunce! Embarrassed

This is everything I could think of to list for reference.

----------------------------------------------------
Sesame Server Properties

Target: C:\Sesame\Program\sesame.exe -server accounting:20003:20004

Start in: C:\Sesame

when I "Find Target" the directory shows the "Multi-Licence" and "s_conf" files are there. (I also have copies of them scattered about in several other locations because of some confusion about where the file should go originally)

On the same computer I have a shortcut:

Sesame-1 Properties

Target: C:\Sesame\Program\sesame.exe -client accounting:20003:20004 data\servicetest.db

Start in: C:\Sesame\Program

When I click "Find Target" I get the same directory I got when I click "Find Target" on the server.

When I click on this shortcut to start Sesame I get !Failed to connect to server. & too many clients errors yet the server window currently shows 1 of 3

Anyone?

Pretty Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

On the client I would change the start in directory to c:\sesame

Then I'm guessing but I had some problems getting the client and server to connect, it was a problem with the port numbers, on mine I let sesame use the defaults and it worked fine.
My money would be on the port numbers giving you a problem.

Thanx! I was able to get the short cut on the server computer to work with your help. Trouble is, I thought it would be the same thing from another computer but now I am haunted by ghost clients. I remember a former post about this so I will search now.

Thanx again.

Solved it. Grin
Yes, there were some pretty dingy port issues but I couldn't even figure that out because of the main problem. The server computer was still running the original version of Sesame! Maybe that seems a pretty obvious thing to check but it isn't my computer and the guy it belongs to doesnt use Sesame....yet. When I did get the port thing resolved it still didn't work. It just started as many phantoms as I was willing to click up.

A-OK now.
