Hi -

Is there any capability - particularly in a report - to have Sesame change a numeric value (in a layout element formatted as number) to a word representing that number (in a layout element formated as text)?

In other word I have a report that has a "Count" layout element that shows "45".

I want to create another layout element that will show "forty-five".

Am I dreaming?  lol

Hello Spencer,

I'm not sure if I am qualified enough to diagnose your mental state and let you know if you are dreaming or not. But I can tell you that this can be done in Sesame with programming.

Pages 204-207 of the Sesame 1.0 Programming Guide or Pages 249-251 of the Sesame 1.1 Programming Guide will get you on the right track. or if you prefer Inside Sesame I believe Tom did an article on a check printing program way back when.

Hi guys -

I haven't had a chance to work with it yet but much thanks for the programming guide & Inside Sesame references for this issue.  I took a quick peek and it looks like it will be perfect for my needs.

The reason I can't work with yet is that I'm falling asleep.  Bob Hansen and I were on the phone till about 3:00 a.m working on getting one of my reports to a web-site.  It is VERY EXCITING and I'm looking forward to telling you about it within the next few days ... just as soon as I catch up on my sleep.  lol

Hi -

Thanks again for the help regarding converting numbers to words.

Having the code spelled out for us provides a major convenience and it is very much appreciated.  I have now incorporated it in my report which gets posted to my web -site.
