Features to come?

I was wondering if any of the future versions of Sesame will allow us to start typing one of the values in a list to select that value, for lists produced with @PopupMenu, @UserSelect, @XUserSelect, etc.?

You know, like the way a Combo Box will advance the highlight to the first value that matches what you have started to type.

Already done - its called "@PopupChoiceList" and it features alphabetic selection scrolling (as you describe), scrollbars, and paging. It was actually the 8th feature put into 2.0.

Embarrassed Stupid me... Now that you mention it, I do remember reading that in Inside Sesame. Tongue

But, why a completely new function? Why not rework it, and still call it @PopupMenu? Or does the syntax change (in which case, I understand that you would need to keep existing code functioning)?

Essentially it is a new function so users will not get a change in behavior from a function that is otherwise predictable. Also, it gives developers a choice. If they know that it is a short list, they may find the PopupMenu to be a better choice. It has lighter weight, smaller screen size, responds on a single click, etc... The one with scrollbars is more like a small dialog box, and is a fully qualified window.

I don't remember if it takes the same arguments. But, I'm sure they are similar.

No Sesame skins. Just using the standard KDE desktop "Thin Keramik" style on X11 on Linux. One of the advantages of Linux is that they allow any of the available desktop managers (about 300 are available) and within the desktop everything is very configurable. KDE provides a few dozen "themes" and you can configure every option to make your own. Some of the free "theme" websites have a few thousand to download.

Comparing Windows to Linux is like comparing McDonalds to the grocery store.
