Reports - I'm getting there!

Hi -

I'm sorry to say that being able to design reports that are to my liking is driving me up the wall.

Nevertheless, I am finally starting to gain more control over them.  I can even get the current day/date to print where I want it - with no regard to my browser's page settings.

I'm very proud of my latest attempt.  Take a look for yourself.

Now if we just could insert @page() commands as we can the day/date commands, I might just be even a little happier.

By the way, sorry that I couldn't reduce the size to make it easier to get an overview of the report - without having to scroll.  Can anyone tell me how to do that?

Finally, yet again, I want to extend my thanks to the overwhelming patience and support of Bob Hansen.  There is no way I could have figured this much out, without all his past help.

One more "by the way" .... I don't yet know how to combine free-form and columnar reports.  This entire report was designed as a single columnar report.

OK I lied - yet another "by the way."  Here's a link to where the report is being stored.  This one is a little too small and hard to read but it will give you a better look at it in "full view."

1.  Re forum Report size:
The report you presented is a jpg file.  You can resize this using Paint.

Open file in Paint.

Check Image/Attributes and you will see width is about 1700 pixels.

To get closer to 600 pixels, choose Image/Strecth-Skew/

Change Stretch Hor and Vert from 100% to 30%.

Check Image/Attributes again, and you will see width is now 510, close enough for this example.

Save file under new name and you will have original, larger and new, smaller file.

Here is the result of what I described above.

2.  Re "combining" Free Form and Columnar reports.

Both reports are files.

You could could try appending one file to the other, or  inserting one into the other with a link

Thanks Bob -

Well, I don't have "Paint" so, I guess I will just
have to send my reports to you for re-sizing.  lol

Thanks for the "better version."  Now I can take
it off my other web-site.

Looks like the width of my first message forced yours
to be the same.  Yuck!

Anyhow, pretty snazzy report, don't you think?

I may be istaken, but I thought that Paint was included with all Windows OS since 3.1.  Hmmm, I seem to recall that some versions of XP have a different utility........

Look in Windows\System32 for mspaint.exe.  Put an icon on desktop or in Start/Programs menu.

Also, if you use the one I provided, or resize on your own, then the forum section will not be so wide.

Bob -

I have Microsoft Picture It!  Express 7.0

BUT, I cannot tell a lie, I did a search for
Paint and I found it under accessories.

Sigh - Guess I'll have to do my own re-sizing
now.   Seriously, thanks.  Very good to know.

Both are view types. If both use the same data, create two views. Set one of the as a column view and the other as a free form view. Sesame will create a single report containing both a table view and a free form view of the same data.

Mark -

Had I known, Imight have tried it for the report
I just designed ... but since I'm happy with what
I have, I don't need it at the moment.

I will definitely keep it in mind and will "play" with
it when I have time.

Thanks!

Now get back to your template work - you have
a lot of people waiting for it.  lol
