Question marks OK in pre-translation field names?

I'm in pre-translation phase and one of my Q&A databases has a number of fields where the field name contains a question mark (these will become yes/no fields after translation, more often than not.)  I don't see the question mark as a problematic character in the list on page 7 of the Translation Guide but I thought I'd ask anyway in case I need to change them.  Thanks in advance for your help.

I do not believe Question Marks are illegal characters. You should be fine to use them.

Is a back slash \ a problem?  How about periods?

Currently neither the \ or the . characters are a problem when translating as far as I know. However you may want to change them anyway for your sake later on in programming.
