Using "@" in an element label

I've noticed that when I use the "@" symbol in the text label of a layout element (not the name, I understand it is reserved) the text following the symbol is rendered invisible.  Is there a section in the manual that explains this behavior?

If you want "@' to appear in a label you must double it up in the label as '@@'. This will cause one '@' to appear in the label. The '@' is used to create arrows in labels as shown in the image below

For more information on this you can read the following thread.

Ah, that's very useful, and thanks for the link.

I assume that's a standard pipe for the ones with a single vertical bar, but what are used for the ones circled here?

Also, those don't look like up and down arrows to me.  Undecided However, it does explain a bit of something I wondered about when looking at Bill Halpern's "Consumers_3.dsr".  He has some command buttons with a nice down arrow that activate programmed popup menus.  The label for these is "@-22>"  With a bit of experimentation I got an up arrow using "@-22<".   What is the "-22" referring to, and is there documentation for other arcane @ uses?

Thanks Ray!

-EDIT:  I see the other thread describes the behavior of rotation and sizing, so I now know what -22 does.

You are seeing rotation commands. If you go to the page Ray listed:

http://www.lantica.com/Forum2/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=archived;action =display;num=1089301938;start=1

rotation is explained in my post.

The character in the ones you circled are an open square brace followed by a close square brace.

They are @>[] and @[]<

The [] is an open square brace '[' followed by a close square brace ']'

I have used those in customized menus and Open/Close Menu Tree buttons.

You can show us how you are using these at the SANE meeting next Feb 4.  (Just providing you with a special reminder).
