Hello Fred,

How is the Sesame Server shut down when it needs to be shut down?

What computer is the log file that you sent me from?

Double check that all the Sesame icons on the Client computers have the "-Client Servername" syntax in the target.

Hello Ray,
Not sure how the server is shut down - Admin is out to lunch (wow, there's an opening...

The log file was from the server.

Yikes, I totally missed the additional syntax in the target line for the icons. I'll be doing that right away. Quick question - in the example in the book, p.450, the command line is given as "sesame -server mach..." is it okay to use  "name.db - server mach.." and go directly to the database you want to open? I'm assuming it is, but that's gotten me into trouble before Roll Eyes

Thanks for your help and very quick responses with this issue!!

Go with sesame.exe -client machine_name data\name.db

Remember the 'data\name.db' is relative from the Server Process.

All looks well Ray - thanks again.

Is there any way to determine if a server needs to be rebooted, or to actually reboot one, via Sesame? As I said, I'm here on the weekends - so no Sys support. If I know it needs a reboot, I can always call our admin at home and have him come in to do it.

Thanks again, have a great weekend!
Fred

Hello Fred,

The only time you should really need to re-start the Sesame Server is if it is shut down by a user or if the computer it is running on is re-booted. In either case the way to restart it is from the Server computer. There will be an icon on the desktop, it may say Sesame Server or is may just say Sesame, double click that and it will run Sesame Server. If the -daemon flag is not specified you will see the Sesame server window(Small little gray window says connections, open applications, etc.)
