Help with Help

Hello, I'm new to the group, and a newby Sesame user, but an oldie Q&A guy.

I've got 1.1.3 and basically it translated and runs ok, except when I click on Help, nothing happens.  Also, when I try to invoke "admin/hello" the program freezes!

Any thoughts?

Thx, Bob

Hello Bob,

Do you get any error message when you click the Help choice on the Help toolbar?

Right click on your Sesame Icon
Go down to Properties and click on it
Click on the Shortcut tab
What does it say next to "Start In:" ?

Also in the directory that appears next to "Start In:" there is a file that is named "s_log0000.log". You will need to send this file to Support@Lantica.com

Ray,

No, there are no messages,  nothing happens.
Properties= run in C:\Sesame.
I was thinking that maybe Sesame relies on Acrobat,  or MS Word for viewing the help files, but trying to open help in those programs doesn't work either.

BTW, using XP Home as a platform.

Hello Bob,

Open My Computer
Open your C Drive
Open your Sesame Folder
You will see a folder named HelpFiles
Open that folder
You will see a file named help.html
Double Click on that file
Does anything happen?

If nothing happens
Right click on help.html
Go down to Properties
What does it say next to "Opens with:"?

Are you running Client/Server or Standalone?

When you Click File->Server Administration what exactly happens? Do you see the Login box? Are you able to type in the Login box?

Ray,

1)  click on help.html...nothing.  Right click on same; properties= Start in Unknown.  Changed Unknown to MS Word, and played with it for a while:  Got text+lots of code.  (looked more llike sanscrit giberish...but I'm sure that it was what was intended, obviously not the index, or one of the help windows)

2)  no servers here.  I've got a Stand-alone grey box.

3)  click on admin menu choice= admin log-in window;  type in "admin/help"; click on "log-in" button= momentary dip of log-in button, then...nothing!  3 finger salute= Not Responding message.

Hello Bob,

Set the "Open With:" to Internet Explorer or your default Web Browser.

How long have you given Sesame before hitting CTRL+ALT+DELTETE? Does the Login or Password Box clear?

In your Sesame directory do you see a file named s_conf.cnf?  If you do, then send this file to support@Lantica.com and mark it "Attention Raymond".

Ray,

Huzza! help came out of hiding.

Admin log-in:  yes, when clicking on login, the text goes away.  Waited an eternity (well 5 minutes anyway) and no joy, however this time the program did not freeze, and I tried admin/hello once more=no joy.  I did open up the log file in ms word, and it was as it should have been, ie: proper text showing what happened, and why.
The only drawback is not being able to involk Sunlock.

Looking in the C:Sesame folder, I don't see the cofig file you asked about.  How about if i send the entire folder for you to look at?

Starting to see light at the end of the forrest.

Bob

Ray,

Another thought.  Do you have PC Anywhere or the equal?  You can peek into my system to see what 's going on.

Hello Bob,

Are you typing both admin and hello in all lowercase?

Do you see any file that says 's_conf', regardless of extension, in the Sesame folder?

Ray,

I really must have been tired out the last couple of days. I don't usually make so many spelling errors, and syntax mistakes.  I'm appalled when I look over my last  few posts.  My appologies.

Once again I looked in C:\Sesame and could find no such file (S_conf*)  Maybe it is a hidden file?

Yes, "admin/hello" all lower case.

Hello Bob,

Are you typing 'admin', without the quotes, into the login box and 'hello', without the quotes, into the password box?
