Hey all!

We missed you!

We figured that, while the server was being worked on anyway, we'd take the opportunity to upgrade the Forum. We hope you enjoy the new features, like the ability to post Polls and such.   Smiley

It is Soooooooo nice having you back up and operational.
I take for granted how often I utilize the forum to search for a how to or a reminder of how to accomplish a task.

Glad to see you back.

New forum is loading real slow when replying, watching the icons get loaded.

Top section with ads takes up too much space. Sad
Don't like having to scroll halfway down each page to get to the real work area.  Roll Eyes
I know some of that was included in previous version, but it seems to be growing, so I thought I would take this opportunity to provide the feedback.

Positive news is that I can now select text here, click on Bold, selct colors, etc. and have the code inserted properly.  Grin
I have not been able to do that in the past with Firefox, Mozilla, or Netscape; only with MSIE which I don't use.  That happens even with the Smileys.  In the past they would just go to the end of the reply and I needed to cut/past where I needed them.  Now being inserted where the cursor is.  Grin

What has happened to Off Topic?   Infinity and other Q&A users will be helpless!

But main thing is happy you are back.  Vacation is over now, so get back to work!  Wink

PS, your window for Smiileys is spelled smilies in two places.  And the labels on the left has both smileys and smilies.  I think the correct spelling is smileys.  Smilies is correct plural for smily.

We missed you guys, too. All of us kept hitting the Forum, even knowing that it was in Admin mode.  Tongue

We're sorry we had to turn it off for a few days. The server itself was in a serious state of flux. Drives being swapped, software being installed, settings being rebuilt, etc. We thought it was best to shut the Forum down until it stabilized. We've been wanting to upgrade the Forum anyway, so we figured we'd take advantage of the enforced downtime.  Smiley

I don't think it was ever gone. This version of the Forum has a new behavior. From the Home page, if you click the name of a particular Board, you go to a page that only shows that Board. That may have been what you saw. If in doubt, click the Home link.

Hmmm, you are correct about different behaviour.  Not sure what I did, but I jsut duplicated it again, New Topics was missing where I normally expected to see it.  And then I found it again.....  Embarrassed

Not a big deal, was just feedback about something that had changed.  I am sure I can figure this out, can live with it,  and will just adjust my expectations.

Your time is better spent on release of Version 2  Roll Eyes

I'm experiencing some odd behavior with the Search functionality.  A few minutes ago I tried a search on "generation".  I selected Off Topic as the forum to search, changed the range to "all posts" and the number of retrieves to 100.  Upon pressing the "search" button I got an error page that told me the limit of retrieves was 15.  It offered me a "back" button, which I pressed.  I changed the number back to 15 and pressed "search".  And nothing happened.  I pressed it several times, with no result.  Thinking that perhaps "generation" had never been used, I changed the search term to "Sesame".  Still nothing happened upon pressing the search button.  I then selected all the forums and tried again.  No luck.

So I started over from the beginning.  I went back to the main forum page and chose Search.  This time "Sesame" brought back results.  So I used the "back" button on my browser, and changed "Sesame" to "generation".  Once again the search button had no effect.

I started over from the beginning again, reloading the forums and selecting Search, using "generation" as my search term, and this time I got results.

So, there appears to be something wonky happening when you "back into" the search page.   Just thought I'd let you know.

Followup to the above:  Reloading the search page restores its functionality.

The Back button has a peculiar effect on many scripted pages. They lose their place.

Also, I increased the maximum on search results to 100.
