Q&A Generations

Running Q&A 4.0 for DOS.

Seen lots of references to something called generations.

Questions are:

1. how do I determine how many generations I have in a database; and
2. how do I force everything to a single generations before translating to Sesame.

David,

The process is much easier with a Q&A 4 database. It does not have the major generation issues that appear in Q&A 5. Look at page 4-5 of the Q&A Translation Guide that came with Sesame. Simple step-by-step instructions are there for Q&A 4.
