Sesame consultation needs in Sydney, Australia

Ok I have a strange problem. We use on and off a v1.1 database here. It has suddenly broken with a 'file.db failed to open error'. Tried one of the old db files off a backup and it says the same thing.

I have no background in sesame so I got no idea who to turn to. I did not write this database - it was setup by an employee who has since left quite a while ago.

We purchased the software a long time ago and I do not know any local people who have expertise in this.

I have requested Lantica see if they can recommend me a local company but I do not know if there are any at all.

Is it a one line or two line error?

If it is a one line error then the file is locked. When Sesame gets improperly shut down the application that it has open becomes locked. This is a harmless condition. To unlock a locked application follow these steps

Click File
Click Server Administration
Log in (username: admin    password: hello)
On the unlock application tab double click on your application
Click Exit
Click File->Open Application
Double Click on your application

Thanks for the response...

I did the unlock but that was most likely not the fault.

It won't load - it goes to 88% and says:

database "sesame.db" failed to open

error: failure while loading application "sesame.db"

two line error

Tony,

This is usually a sign of a database that has been damaged in some way. Send it into Support at support@lantica.com so they can take a look at it. You need to send two files: sesame.db and sesame.dat

If your database is password protected, include a admin level password in your message.

I have emailed them - surprisingly the files were just 1Mb zipped up

We'll see how it goes. One thing I was surprised about is how inexpensive this software is.

The big yellow box would make me think it's $1,000 software.

Hi Tony ...You noted:

In our American version of "English", $1,000 is also known as a "grand".

So you are right about Sesame.  it's "grand" software.

Raymond fixed that one up - apparently the tables were messed up?

Thanks to all involved.
