Sesame shutting down abnormally

Recently, several users including myself have experienced an appllication shutting down abnormally.  Typically, it has occured while the application has been minimized or not in use for some time, and the next action results in the good old message from Microsoft re: application has encountered an error........

We are on 1.1.4 and it is not the same application that this is happening to.
In addition, this has happened to two different applications on different server sessions.

Has anyone experienced this recently and/or have any suggestions to correct this?

Thanks,

Louis

P.S. Has the Sesame conference been announced yet ?

Hello Louis,

Double check that all computers running Sesame are running 1.1.4 and that none of them are running an older version.

Does the Client machine get the message or does the Server?
Is the Sesame Server still running after the message?

Hi Ray:

I will double check that all users are running 1.1.4 tomorrow but I am pretty sure I updated all of them.

The client machine receives the error message not the server and the server session is still operational.

Thanks,

Louis

Power management interfering with net? Suspend mode of some sort? Hubs or switches between client and server?

Mark:

Power Management on the server or client?  Just checked server, and there are no power mangement settings.  The client (me) has a password protected screensaver.  I have ruled this out as the first time it happened to me, I quickly re-opened the application, clicked an action and the shut down ocurred.

Can you elaborate on the latter re: hubs or switches.

Thanks,

Louis

I am asking about different suspend modes because some of the power saving modes can actually cause a network shutdown. Sesame uses a constant network connection as opposed to reconnecting each time a command is issued from the client to the server. So an interruption in communications, like a suspend can cause symptoms similar to what you are describing.

I asked about hubs versus switches because hubs cause every packet to pass through every wire and network card in your entire network, so any one bad network card, even in an uninvolved machine, can cause the whole network badness.
