Subforms Table View

Is it possible to set the width of the line number column in a subform in table view? Or is it preset?

Thanks

It is preset. You can adjust it, by dragging with the mouse on the division between the line number column and the first element column, once the table is displayed, and it will remember its size until that table/form is closed.

Thanks Mark

I was hoping that there was a way to set the width and save it so that it would be the same width next time I opened the form.

The row number column is set (somewhat arbitrarily) to 50 pixels, about large enough for 6 digits using typical fonts. Are you intending to make it larger or smaller (just out of curiousity)?

Mark

I did intend to make it smaller, as in this case I doubt if I will have more than three numbers in the line,  but it not a big deal really.

Thanks

The ability to set the width for that, might be a nice addition for version 2.0 Smiley

I hate a horizontal scroll bar in a subform (if I can help it), and sometimes that little bit of wasted space to the left of those line numbers makes it difficult to avoid.

There is a an "ini file" entry for it in Sesame 2.0: TABLE ROW HEADER WIDTH: <n>. The default in 2.0 is 70 pixels as opposed to the 50 in 1.x. You do need to be careful though, and make sure you leave enough room for the digits in the selected font, otherwise it will clip.

Also, in Sesame 2.0 there is a table spec, so you can select which columns appear and in what order, allowing you to exclude unwanted columns that will otherwise increase the total width of the table.

Mark,

That sounds great!

But, did I miss something?

How/where do you set the font that is used in a table-view subform?

Wait.  Wait?  I've been waiting!  I want my V2 NOW!   WAAAAAH!!

And I want one of them giant gooses that lay the Golden Chocolate eggs, too!  And a feast!  A bean feast!  Cream buns and doughnuts and fruitcake with no nuts, so good you could go nuts!  I want today.  I want tomorrow.  I want to wear 'em like braids in my hair, and I don't want to share 'em.  I want a party with roomfulls of laughter, ten thousand tons of ice cream.  And if I don't get the things I am after, I'm going to scream!  I want the works.  I want the whole works.  Presents and prizes and sweets and surprises of all shapes and sizes, and now!  Don't care how, I want it NOW!

Without regard for the Veruca Salt Song (Willy Wonka circa 1971), Sesame 2.0 runtime sets most of the non-user (not on a form or report) fonts to the system menu font, the system message font, or the system status font (depending on context). Basically, Sesame 2.0 follows along with desktop settings in regard to colors and fonts.

Specifically on a table form, the row numbers use a system font, the column headers use the label font for the element that column represents, and the data cell uses text font for that element.

Roald Dahl must be rolling in his grave.
Never did he think he would be used to get Sesame Version 2, but without warts.
It must be an election day, any celebrity will be called upon to force the votes in one direction.

Ironic that I just read this a few days ago:
Veruca Salt's name was a joke by Dahl.  The Latin term for warts is "verruca".  And throwing salt on a wart was a traditional folk custom of way of getting rid of warts.  (Reference: The Odd Body, Dr. Stephen Juan)

Are you referring to 2.0? Because, I have not been able to change any of the fonts in a table-view subform.

Yes, my entire earlier post was about Sesame 2.0.

In Sesame 1.1.4 the table "widget" acts as a single element. The font for the entire table, its data, labels, row numbers, etc... can be set by changing the system "menu" font, which can be found in the desktop settings.

Thanks, Mark.

I was pretty sure I covered all avenues for changing the subform fonts from within 1.1.4  Smiley
