Application compiler

I have gone through the Search on all topics on the forum and cannot believe that this has not been asked before.  Does Lantica plan to have a version that comes with a compiler so that developers can create their own applications that will not require the end user to have Sesame installed?  They mention that runtime applications can be generated from Access and Alpha.

I suspect the answer from Lantica is NO, but would appreciate the insight to the future.  Some potential Sesame customers have asked if databases could be developed that they could then market to others in their industry.  My reply is that the current plan will allow that but each end user must have a Sesame license and local installation.

Personally I think that it is much more important to see Version 2 than to have a compiler, so I would not want to see resources moved to make that happen.

Thanks for any insight......

More of a licensing/business issue than a technical problem.

I would agree that it may be more licensing vs. technical.
I would think this would involve quite a bit of technical support to make it happen.

Sorry Mark, I did not know that only tech items were discussed here.

I wasn't admonishing you for bringing the subject up. Nor do I think it is in any way inappropriate for the forum or board. My reply was simply a statement of my opinion as I pondered the subject, at least partially in reply to your concern that it would imped development of 2.0.

To put it another way: the technicaly issues could be beat fairly rapidly if there were no licensing requirements. Or the licensing requirements we currently have would need to change. Which is not a decision I can make.

I did not feel admonished, I guess I should have added a wink   Wink
Problem with messages vs. voice.  Cry

Relax Mark, and smile.   Smiley
You have earned it.

It's good to know it is not a big tech issue, that makes it more likely to be possible at later date.
Thanks again
