Word Merge in Vista

I have my brand new Vista laptop, which I did not want to begin with but had no choice, everything seems ok except for the word merge feature. When I try to do the same thing I've had wonderful results in Windows XP I cant do it in Vista. Is it the word batch issue?

What happens when you try? Error messages?

There is no error message, Word just does not open.

What is the "word batch" issue you refer to in your first post?

For some reason when I chose the document from my list of mergeable(?) documents after I have retrieved the records I want to be merged in my letter Word does not open as it did in the past. I have to go to the particular document from explorer and open it there.

I wondering if Vista is "protecting" you in some way. I don't have a Vista box here. We'll set one up in the testbed and see if we can see what's up.

The problem maybe in the batch file I am using. I merely copied it from my XP computer and the path there was:

c:
cd "c:\program files\Microsoft Office\office11"
winword.exe %1
Exit

I am pretty sure this is where my problem lies. I am not very good with programming so I would need the exact batch file to replace the XP batch I am using.

Look in Windows Explorer.

Is there such a file as "c:\program files\Microsoft Office\office11\winword.exe" ?

Thank you!!!
It took a while but here is the batch file necessary for Word in Vista:

c:
cd "c:\program files\Microsoft Office\office12"
winword.exe %1
Exit

In XP it is office11 and in Vista it is office12
