I have come close but am stuck on getting this to work.  Using the CharityDonors sample DB to ask the question.  Looking at the DETAILS BY DONOR report and using the record for Cliff and Jeanne Francis which has 6 child records.  3 of the records are of TYPE Cheque, two are of TYPE CAF Voucher, and one is of TYPE Standing Order.  I would like to change the report so that it breaks on the TYPE so that the 3 Cheques are together with the sum, the two CAF Vouchers are together with the sum, and the 1 Standing Order has the sum then a total for the Donor.  

I have tried modifying the subreport and the main report - the closest I come is to break after each item.  I tried to attach a sort to the sub report but that generates an error that I can not sort on the subreport.

Any direction would be helpful.

I had to start with a clean copy, but it worked like a charm.....of course.
