You're using a field of type Keyword as your key field? Is that on the parent, the child or both?

hi Hammer

I had a Keyword field as a key field on both forms.

I have just tried on the parent form a keyword as the key feild, and i linked to a date field on the subform, but still crashed

Try linking to a Text field at both ends. Does that fix it?

You may have a bad record. Can you send the app into Support so they can run it through the debugger?

Whichever is crashing. DSR/DDT or DB/DAT. Send it to support@lantica.com along with any passwords they need and instructions for how to make it happen.

Hello Drastixnz,

Remove the default retrieve spec on the subform and the problem will not happen. The problem is that the default retrieve spec on the subform is using a programmed retrieve spec, It's the same problem that was reported in the thread http://www.lantica.com/Forum3/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1189742964

If you are trying to use a retrieve spec in the subform to hide sub-records that are not in a particular date range, it is not going to work. A retrieve spec in a subform only says Retrieve all parents where one or more of the subrecords matches the criteria specified here. When the Parent records are retrieved they will display all of their records, not just the ones that match the retrieve criteria that caused the Parent to be retrieved in the first place.

One way to look at is like a Gym full of families. The Family is the parent record and each family member is a subrecord of the family. If you say will each family(Parent form) with a family member(Child form) less than three years old please stand up, the entire family is going to stand up. The retrieve spec of less than three years old is run against each family member(Child records) in each family(Parent Records) and if one of them is less than three years old the condition is met, so that family stands up.

If you need more explanation let me know.
