Pre-Printed Forms and Coordinate Printing

When it comes to pre-printed forms and Sesame, is there any simply way to print a database record using coordinate style printing found in Q&A, or is one relegated to using PrintString?

Do you get Inside Sesame? I wrote a nice PrintString routine that you can just drop into any form. It manages long values, tab pages, etc.

No, but I'm guessing by your response that PrintString is the only way to go.  I haven't played with it yet but it looks powerful enough on the surface to handle the business requirement I'm dealing with.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going off on an unnecessary tangent.  Thx.

It's far more powerful than the coordinate printing system in Q&A. You can get much finer control over placement. You can also print values more than once and print values that do not exist on your form at all.

Let us know if you need help.

There are several articles on this subject. The one that unwraps Tab Pages is in the June 2006 issue. Printing Hard To Print Forms.

Absolutely true! PrintString is very powerful. This deposit slip was created with Sesame's PrintString() commands. I was even able to use a MICR font (that I found for free) to make those special symbols in the routing number.

I did this as a "proof of concept" sort of thing to see if Sesame could handle it. The only reason I don't actually use this to print my deposit slips, is because the MICR encoding needs to be printed with magnetic ink, and I don't want to bother changing ink everytime I print a deposit slip. Of course, it's not Sesame's fault that the banks are still using magnetic readers. The Postal Service uses optical readers that don't need magnetic ink, so I'm sure the banks could do away with that requirement eventually. When I looked into this (1-2 years ago), I was told that some of the bank's older equipment may still require the magnetic ink.

Those aren't real routing and account numbers, right?

He probably left them real because it is a DEPOSIT slip he want us to use.  That is why he used the deposit slip and not the check.  ALL DEPOSITS ARE WELCOME!

But you are correct, they should be dummy or blanked out.

Oops!  Shocked...

Nah, just kidding. Smiley
Though, Bob has a point. If you want to send a deposit to my bank account, that would be great. First, let me change the routing numbers back to the real thing. Wink

AWSOME! Just make sure there are lots of zeros after the other numbers. Cool
