[Solved] losing data

i cannot seem to figure out what is happening to my data, both in preview and application mode, when i enter a few records, exit, and come back what i previously entered is gone. anyone have any ideas?

How are you checking to see if your records are still there?

Are you getting any warnings when you open you application about files being read-only?

In SDesigner, if you select one of the elements on your form and look at the Bound To setting in the Property Viewer, is it blank?

in sdesigner, if i preview application, enter a couple of records, exit preview, preview application again, records gone.
i have saved the design as application.  open the application, enter records, close application, open application again, records gone.

i get no messages about files being read only.

in sdesigner when i look at the element properties they are bound to a field.

i am still evaluating the  the trial version to determine if it will do what i want it to do, would that affect record retention?

Are you determining this by opening your form in Search Update mode and pressing F10 on a retrieve spec?

Nope. Trial version retains records.

i have not tried  retrieve spec, i just open form in either add or search mode and i can't see any previously entered records. tried using the record navigation buttons at the top.  also switching to table view does not show me any previously entered records.

If you open your form in Add mode, you are on a new blank record waiting for you to enter data, so your existing records won't be there.

If you open your form in Search mode, you are on a Retrieve Spec. This is a copy of your form where you can enter criteria to specify which of your existing records you want to see. If you leave this spec blank and press F10, it will get all of your existing records.  Give it a try.  Smiley
