Sure. Can you be a bit more specific?

Just the basics, how and when to use them, maybe explain how to use relational linking (if at all).
Maybe run through some scenarios of how they might be used.

I am seeing quite a few questions on the XResultSet family of commands.   Maybe an upcoming online Session could deal with something like a checkbook or invoice sytem that would use the XResultSet commands to run different reports.   Maybe even using them to pull the records out of the db to calculate running balances and interest.   I know you have covered these a couple of times, but there still seems to be some confusion/lack of grasping them.

Just a thought - I miss the great instruction from these sessions - regardless of the topic.

@XResultSetSearch ( ) is the first step to any xResultset commands. As compared to Retrieve Spec there seems to be some limitations to referencing database fields in equation but as compared to xlookup commands it can take more than one criterias to get the resultset.  Special emphasis on @XResultSetSearch ( ) will be very helpful, I believe.

What I like the most about ResultSet commands is that you can execute them directly from the mainmenu without opening the form in many instances, printout the reports, open up forms, etc. I guess there is a lot more to learn to use them to the fullest potential!!

I'm happy to do them, if people show interest. I'll set up another, more advanced XResultSet demo if you folks want it. Give me some ideas of things you are thinking about doing with XResultSet. The checkbook example can be done with a report, although you can use XResultSet to run the report..

Talk to me about this, folks. What have you got in mind? What do you want to do that isn't in the original example database I gave you?

I love the idea of weekly how-to's for Sesame.  Unfortunately with the vastness of things that Sesame can do, I get lost with finding something specific to work on.  But a few ideas might be:

Word merge - for example how to create a new merge file, instead of modifying a current one.

Static Images - Easier ways to align static images for best visual affect as well as using this function to create a background for the form than adding fields to it.

Sounds interesting, but I'm not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate?

Maybe do a run-down of the various ways that the XResultSet commands can be used, with a brief demonstration of each technique? Then, if there's interest in one of those uses, focus on it in another online session. What I'm trying to do right now is create command buttons that use XResultSet commands to create a new record in another database, based upon the information in the current form. For example, I'm viewing a record showing the details on a particular client. The form has a button that says, "Create New Invoice" -- hitting that button creates a new invoice record, with the client's details pre-filled.

Check out the sample database I posted. It's in there.  Smiley

Last time I did a word merge, it was with address labels.  In the how-to article it had me modify a sample word document to change as needed.  I don't know how to create a word document and make it able to have the merge fields.  Does that make any sense.  Or you can do a overall word merge beginner session.

Sure. I'll be out of town this Friday, but I'll try to set something up for the week after. Meanwhile, the links below might help.

XML is used to facilitate the sharing of structured data across different information systems, particularly via the Internet and I believe since the Internet is the future, XML will be extensively used from here onwards. Lately I have picked up a project of designing e-prescription module in an integrated medical office application. The e-prescription is required to be transmitted in XML format and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Sesame offers and facilitate making and manipulating XML document!!!  Thanks for being so forward looking and being proactive !

I am missing in the programming guide more examples of how XML commands are used. I would appreciate if exploration of XML commands could be accommodated in the next Online Information Session. Also would like to learn more about HTTPS transfer protocol for transferring XML document over the Internet. Sesame has @HTTPGetHTML ( ) and HTTPPostHTML ( ) but I am not seeing just HTTPPost ( ) command. Am I missing something? Thanks for providing us with so many different tools to solve the almost any problem and accomplish more.

XML sounds like a good topic. I have an appointment this Friday and a training session next Friday, but I'll set it up for you the week after that. Probably Aug 15.

Are these sessions still happening (when there's expressed interest)?
I would love to see some more sessions/explanations/details for XResultSet.  My concerns might be too basic for many users, though - 1) better to program for the exception first, or the rule first?

I can set up sessions if people are interested, but it appears that you are looking for more specific information and do better when you simply post your  question.
