MergeFilePrint ( ) command and Windows 98

I have a workstation that uses Windows 98. In that particular workstation,  MergefilePrint ( ) command that uses .rtf file, MS Word 2000 does not open the .rtf file.. as a matter of fact MS Word does not open. It works fine with Windows XP with Word 2002. If I recall it right, it did work in the past but stopped working for some strange reasons.   I have all the .rtf files in the computer and path is properly stated. Do I have to use cmd command or something? Thanks.

This may be caused by RTF file associations in Windows 98.

Please check to see what application is associated with the 'Print' verb for RTF documents. You can access the file associations by following the steps below.

1.      Start Windows Explorer.
2.      On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3.      Click the File Types tab.
4.      In the Registered file types box, click the RTF extension, and then click Advanced.
5.      In the Actions box, click Print, and then click Edit.

What is the 'Application Used to Perform Action'?

.rtf is associated with Winword.exe

Used for Merge Printing. In the computer with Windows XP OS, it works perfectly well.

Still no luck with Windows 98.

I am not quite clear about the question but command button activate the action of Mergefileprint ( ) command. If I place the file name in the "Run" box C:\Sesame2\Docs\history.rft, Word open up the history.rtf file.
