Text Editor Problem

I have a Text Editor Box within a tab.  This area is for typing notes.  Sometimes the notes are short and sometimes they can be quite long.  I sometimes want to create columns. The tab key takes the cursor out of the text editor box, so in order to create large space between words to create columns I use the space bar.  When I use the space bar, and I go as far as say 50 spaces, I get the following Windows message:

“sesame.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Close program”

Of course the application gets locked and you have to unlock it using server admin.

I’ve tested this several times creating a new app with only a text editor LE and a text editor LE inside a tab, no other LE’s or programming.  Sometimes the error does not occur which is rare, but most of the time the lockup occurs after a few spaces and sometimes not until 100 or so.

Any idea as to what might be happening with this?

By the way, I love how the Image Box LE works.  Simply double click inside it and you’re taken to the designated image folder for image selection. Once the image is selected it shows the image when that record is viewed.  Is there any way to do this with .doc’s?  That would definitely solve the problem as I could use Word for the text editor.  In my app I have created a way for the user to access Word, but it’s not as nice and smooth as being able to simply click on the tab and see your notes.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, Brandon. Ben wrote it up and we're looking into it.

Also: You can't embed other application files inside a Sesame record. You can link to them, but you can't embed them.

Hello Brandon,
As a workaround you will want to turn off Interactive Spell Checking if you are going to be pressing the space bar rapidly.

We think we've got it fixed. Next release should be okay.

I also use Text Editor Boxes on a tab pages, and like to indent secondary lines of info with the tab key. You can get tabs inside the text box element by using the "F6 edit window". Simply press F6 when in the element, type/edit, use tabs, use search/replace, etc. Then press F6 to save the changes back to the element.

I also use the following lines in the sesame.ini file to make the default size of the edit window larger.
FIELD EDITOR HEIGHT: 450
FIELD EDITOR WIDTH: 600

Great suggestion Carl, I had no idea the F6 Edit Window could be used that way.  The secretaries like having their tabs back!

Thank you,

Brandon
