Report Designer and Sesame.ini

I'm hoping there's a solution to a problem I'm having with Sesame 2.1's report designer.

Whenever I run the designer, and open a report, the entire computer I'm using slows down to a crawl.  The mouse moves slower, and Sesame's interface takes at least 20 seconds to save a report.

My question is this...

After trying several different things, something in my Sesame.ini file is causing the issue.  I'm at a loss because I can't figure out which setting is causing the issue.  Below is my Sesame.ini file, for reference:

Ostratalis,

I'm a Sesame rookie, but I know that there is a sesame_2_1.ini file, also (I have assumed that the sesame.ini file came with the trial version, and the sesame_2_1.ini file was installed when I installed the 'live' version.
Is it possible there could be something in this file that is causing your problem?

I'm not sure it's the ini file causing this. I don't know of any settings that would do so, especially in design mode. Is it all reports, or just some?

It's all the reports, unless I disable the ini file (by renaming it to sesame_old.ini).  It persists with the existing reports, and happens even if I create a new database with one form and one report.

For now, I'm just renaming the ini file when I need to design.

Very weird stuff.

I agree that this is weird. Are you running standalone or client/server?

Ostra,

Have you looked at Windows Task Manager and see how much memory and cpu cycles that sdesigner.exe is pulling when you have it open?    sdesigner.exe is pulling about 7,800kb of memory when I've got it open, and the Performance graph stays very low.  I know you can change the 'priority' setting on the stuff that's running in the Task Manager, but I don't have any experience with what kind of difference it might make.

I still run Q&A in Dos windows on WinXP, and every once in awhile (don't know why) the QA program will hog all of the CPU cycles, causing the computer to crawl.  If I close down the offending QA session, it frees up the CPU (and if I reboot the computer, I can usually run Q&A with no problems).  I have learned to just curse Bill Gates briefly and get on with my work.

Anecdotal 'fix' ....  also, perhaps the file is corrupted somehow?  Have you tried reinstalling?

Its the "SNAP TO GRID" option in the sesame.ini file that seems to be the culprit. I'll take a look at it for the next release. In the meantime, turn it off while you are working on reports.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.  Turning off the Snap To Grid option did the trick.

For the record, it happened in stand-alone and client-server modes.
