A client is considering purchasing Sesame, but is curious about priing and timing of Version 3.  Can you provide any guidelines/insight as to what is expected re priciing and upgrades and timing?

Version 3 is at least a year away. Bob. We have no information about pricing at this time.

Thanks Erica, some earlier postings had made mention so I wanted to be sure.

Erica, aside from pricing, what else can you tell us about the next version of Sesame? I read that there will be API functions -- anything else you can tell us?

Well, I can tell you that my name is spelled Erika.  Wink

I can also tell you that the API will not have to wait for 3.0. It will work with 2.5, which we are packing for release right now. The API will follow 2.5 in a couple of weeks. I need to document and write samples for each of the six currently supported languages, but the imminent version can do the API stuff. Basically, it exposes almost all of the XResultSet commands. So, you can search, add, edit, delete...all that good stuff.

Version 3.0 has a lot of really nice stuff in it. You're going to LOVE the Report Builder. You're also going to like the form thumbnailing, the new programming commands, and the new communications model that does not require a continuous connection. I can't give you too many details right now. We'll start showing it to you when we get a bit closer.

Thanks ERIKA!  Eagerly looking forward to the next version. I see it is already posted. Thanks. Does that mean we have to learn 5 more languages?

No, but if you already know a language like PHP that is standard for web sites, you can hook your Sesame data right into your website, just like you can with mySQL or SQLServer. If you know VB/VBA, you can write code in your Word docs or Excel spreadsheets that queries your Sesame databases without having to export to text files. It's really really useful and powerful and also fun.  Smiley  (I know. Developers have a weird idea of fun.)

Oh c'mon, I was excited about Sesame v3.0!  Cheesy

A new report builder sounds awesome.
