Import data

I am trying to import the records from a file in a different application.  Originally I worked on an inven file, then when it was complete I merged it into my main application.  The data did not merge with it.  Now I am trying to get my data over but I get an error msg and to check the log.  But there is no error msg in the admin log!  The error I get is import reports1 error line from ....(then it gives the file name, etc.)

I ended up exporting to an asci file and then importing from the asci file.  Is there  an easier way to do this?

You'll find that there are MANY ways to do any task in Sesame.

The method you chose (export to ascii file, then import into the new aplication) is the one I would have used, as well.

Since 'merging' is usually not performed very often, this simple approach was probably best. If you are routinely moving data from one database into another, there are easier methods.
