Connection problem with Sesame 2.5.3

Hello All,

I'm experiencing numerous errors when trying to connect to sesame client- Everyone else
seems to be able to connect fine, besides myself. I'm from montreal
using bell internet(non-static IP address) I connect vpn to work and
try to open sesame from my desktop only to receive the following
errors:

1) sesame client no longer communicating with this client, client will exit

2) Error failed to connect to server(which is usually only fixed by
restarting the server, which I will then get error number 1)

I have logs I can attach and I've already contacted support, but this is pretty urgent since I'm unable to work due to this.

If I connect via RDP to a desktop at work, and try to log in it seems to kick everyone else off with error number 2)

Help.. Cry Sad

Is everyone using the exact same version (2.5.3)?

I have clients that connect remotely and have not reported any problems with 2.5.3, but they were having these sort of errors using 2.5.2.

Hello Carl,

We've since upgraded to 2.5.3 -

Experienced similar issues... we believe it could be the bell connection?(pppoe connection)

What type of internet did you have trouble with?

As a temporary workaround, have you tried using Mesh under Windows Live?  It's similar but not identical to Remote Desktop.  You would actually be running Sesame on your work PC but could access everything from home.  The work PC must be running Vista or Win 7 but any PC running MSIE can access it.  (Don't know about IE6 ...)

There was a mix of DSL and Cable modems.

In addition to what Rick suggested, there is also LogMeIn (logmein.com) which offers free remote control of computers. But, that requires the use of a system on-site where the server is located.

LogMeIn also offers something else that may help. It's called Hamachi. It's an extremely easy to set up, hosted, VPN service for only $19/year for up to 32 members in the VPN. I have not yet used it for Sesame, but I have used it for a secure way to use Windows RDP, and it has worked extremely well.

I was using Remote Desktop and PCAnywhere and there were nothing but problems. You have to open up various ports and also got to have static IP. Also a lot of problems with firewall setting. By trial and error, I have settled down with Teamviewer that is free and does not need to open up any ports or no need for static IP. One can even operate Sesame remotely using cellphone. It is so much simpler and dependable.

LogMeIn and Teamviewer are very similar.
