Every so many weeks I have a day when someone says a record is missing then another one is found missing and while I am trying to figure things out all but about 3 records vanish.

I load a back up from about half hour before (Thank you lanticans for BACKUP ON INTERVAL) and all is fine for another couple of weeks.

Anyone have thoughts on what can be causing this. I see no pattern and cannot see any particular cause.

Also what is the best way for me to export and import a single record from a previous backup to the latest version including sub record data.

No one has access to delete and there is no delete features in Sbasic that I use.

I thought maybe a posting issue but I cannot trace it to happening while anyone is doing any type of posting.

I have been lucky so far as to not have lost much.

I need to load a few records back, however I hate having an issue and not knowing why it's happening.

Is there any conclusion you have found? please post them here because i have the same problem, every few weeks the department tell me there's a record lost.

I look in backups, and export the record, and import the record back.
no users have delete rights. and also nu delete functions in the programming.
upgrading to 2.53 version did not help. and will now install 2.6 version soon. There are no errors in the log file aswell.

I had similar problem but come to find out there was problem of coding and design. Certain important fields were either overwritten or blanked out because of posting action. Still there were some information were left in the records that I utilized to to locate them and filled the missing values again. Just to give an example, recordnumber and LastName were blanked out but FirstName and address were still there. Using that I could goto the record and fill in the blanked out data. Try to find the record with null value of important field, just one field at a time, that might help to locate the record.  Well, your case may be totally different...

Given that it was 8 years ago, I do not recall the specifics of Roberts problem. Go ahead and send your .DB and .DAT files in a zip folder to support@lantica.com. Also send what version of Sesame you are on and the s2_log0000.log file from the C:\Sesame2 directory on the Server computer.
