These users want a very basic easy to use database that does a lot of basic things simply and easily without to many bells and whistles. I believe Lantica has provided such a product. Sesame can be used out of the box without much fuss to accomplish many tasks. Very little learning is involved to accomplish many of the basic database features. At the same time they have laid the groundwork for users who want more features, more control and more sophisticated applications. From a user standpoint I get the best of all worlds, a building block approach to my application. I can start with the basic and if I desire to put the effort in and learn more, I can add much more power to my application. Thank you Lanticans for giving us a product that is so versatile and gives our applications the ability to grow in the future. I am only one user but I know my feelings are felt by many others and with customer loyalty a great product and time you will make Sesame's path the beaten path.

Sesame Database Manager is compatible with Symantec Q&A. Q & A users will find that Sesame uses many of the same keystrokes, the same search syntax, and almost the same programming syntax as used in a Q&A database. Sesame can also translate Q&A databases. Find out more.

July 9, 2004 - Sesame - Powerful database management for small business

Lantica Software announces the availability of Sesame Database Manager 1.0 for Windows and Linux, the company's flagship product in the database management market.

Sesame is a database management program specifically geared to small business and corporate departments. In a market dominated by application development tools designed for consultants, Sesame offers powerful and flexible database tools designed for users, business owners and do-it-yourselfers.

Originally conceived as a replacement product for Symantec Q&A, Sesame is a logical migration path for those still using Q&A. It has the ability to translate Q&A 4.0/5.0 for DOS and Q&A for Windows databases into Sesame applications. Q&A users will find that Sesame uses many of the same keystrokes, search syntaxes and programming language commands as Q&A.

Sesame is a cross-platform product which runs on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP and on Linux (Intel). Rather than porting between platforms, Sesame is simultaneously developed on both Windows and Linux. This combined with a true client-server architecture allows you to mix-and-match Windows and Linux clients and servers at will, giving you the flexibility to experiment with different operating systems, and to make the best choice for your workstations, servers and web servers without changing your database package.

A free trial version is available for evaluation at http://www.sesamedatabase.com. Sesame's trial version has no time limit on the software itself. Databases built with the trial version "expire" after 30 days. Once a database expires, installing the release version of Sesame fully reactivates it. A single-user copy of Sesame with full client/server capability retails for $249.00 USD. Additional client license pricing depends on volume.

Sesame features more than 800 pages of documentation and tutorials provided as high-quality printed manuals, as well as in PDF format. Technical support is available through several channels, including telephone, online and a peer-to-peer Support Forum. Recent Sesame updates include the addition of powerful new programming features to the integrated programming language, as well as a built-in popup Calendar.

At this point, I do not see a limit to Sesame's capabilities. After skimming my Sesame programming guide for the past 12 months, asking lots of questions here, and pouring over Inside Sesame each month, I feel my only limitation is my own level of creativity.
